Creating Thoughful Homes Together

Every home begins with a conversation

Whether you are planning an extension, renovation or new home, the process can feel complex.

My role is to guide you through it — transforming ideas into clear proposals and thoughtful architecture.

I work with homeowners across Maidenhead, Cookham, Marlow and the wider Thames Valley to create spaces that are practical, beautiful and tailored to how you live.

1. Initial Conversation

Every project begins with an informal conversation

We discuss your ideas, how you currently use your home, and what you would like to achieve. I can also provide early advice on planning constraints, design possibilities and likely project scope.

This stage helps establish whether the project is feasible and what the next steps might be.

2. Building Surveys

Accurate drawings of the existing building are the starting point for most projects.

We can arrange measured surveys of your property to produce detailed plans, elevations and sections which form the basis of the design work and planning drawings. For larger or more complex properties I work with specialist surveying consultants.

3. Concept Design

This is where ideas begin to take shape.

Through sketches, drawings and discussion we explore different design options for your home. The focus is on layout, light, flow and how the building connects to the garden and surrounding context.

The aim is to create a design that feels both exciting and carefully considered — balancing creativity with practicality.

4. Planning

Once a design has been developed, we will prepare the drawings/documents for planning submission.

This includes coordinating the application, preparing supporting material where required and liaising with the required consultants and the local authority throughout the process.

Having worked extensively across Berkshire and the Thames Valley, we have a strong understanding of local planning policies and how proposals can be successfully presented.

5. Technical Design & Building Regulations

Following planning approval, the design is developed into a detailed technical package

This includes construction drawings, coordination with structural engineers and consultants, and preparing information required for Building Regulations approval.

The aim is to ensure the project is clearly defined and buildable before work begins on site

6. Construction

During construction we can remain involved to support the project as it progresses.

This may include assisting with contractor selection, reviewing construction details, responding to queries from the builder and helping ensure the design is delivered as intended.

For many homeowners this stage provides reassurance that there is a professional guiding the project through to completion.
