About Gareth Cotter Architecture
Gareth Cotter Architecture is a RIBA Chartered residential architecture studio based in Maidenhead, creating thoughtful, bespoke homes across Berkshire, the Thames Valley and the South East. The practice focuses on extensions, renovations and new homes, combining strong design thinking with a practical understanding of planning, construction and detail.
A personal and considered approach
I believe good architecture should be both beautiful and practical — shaped around everyday life while elevating it. Every project begins with careful listening: understanding how a client lives and how their home might work better.

I’m particularly drawn to bespoke design and architecture that responds to its setting and brief. I also have a strong interest in sustainable design, focusing on longevity, efficiency, natural light and thoughtful use of materials.
Experience that informs the studio
Before establishing the practice, I worked across a wide range of residential and mixed-use projects in Berkshire, London and beyond.
My experience includes private residential extensions, bespoke dwellings, planning applications, technical design and consultant coordination, as well as more specialist work for luxury hotels, high-end automotive environments and unique private-client projects.
Working on these varied projects has shaped the way I design today: with a balance of creativity, technical understanding and attention to detail. It also means I can guide clients through the process with confidence, from early ideas and feasibility studies to planning, detailed design and construction information.
